About
“I’m a self-portrait photographer and filmmaker (etc.) born and based in Denver, CO. That’s significant because I love my city and the communities that raised me. I mean they truly raised me up, encouraged my gifts and voice, my womanhood and my black/brownness. I love my people. I approach people, and life, with a genuine curiosity. I want to know the core of a thing, how and why it ticks the way ti does. This is a gift of mine, and it’s a gift that isolates me from my peers. I’ve seldom been approached with that same curiosity beyond what I provide on the surface.. Humor. Beauty. Kindness. People are bad at asking questions, at approaching people with genuine curiosity. I decided I’d had enough. Now, I ask myself the big questions, and what I share is how I work my way to answering them. To me, spirituality and creativity are twins. A sacred union, perfect dancing partners. As a twin myself and as someone who has an affinity for divine connections such as this, I’ve committed to mastering both in balance. I’m doing this so that I may be enough of me to be a tool, a resource to my community. I move through fear and into purpose. I’m a student to life above it all, and self-study has been a necessary first step towards something bigger. I look forward to expanding the circles Studio Qamar runs in and contributing to my community’s wellness.” - Najah Q.
